A Brief FAQ for the Curious and Confused.
Who are your beta-readers, and how much do they rock?
My beta-readers are
goldenflames and
steelehearts, and they rock so hard that even Parasurama doesn't hate them. And that's really saying something. Because Parasurama hates everyone.
I found this journal because I'm trying to research the Mahabharata. Er, am I in the wrong place?
Yes. Yes, you are. You do realize that in the original Mahabharata, there were no spaceships or lasers, right?Oh wait...
I found this journal because I'm looking for a place to discuss the real Mahabharata. I think I'm in the wrong place, too.
Yeah, you are. But you can head over to
reading_maha for some more fun Mahabharata-centric discussion.
I've never heard of the Mahabharata before, and I wouldn't know Krishna from Keanu Reeves. Can I still read your fic? Will it make sense to an Indopantheon virgin?
Yes, you can still read my fic. I've tried my damndest to make it as accessible to a general audience as humanly possible.
I started reading your fic, and now I want to know more about the real Mahabharata. If I Wikipedia the Mahabharata, will I spoil myself silly for your fic?
Yes. And here's why: The original Mahabharata begins with a character, Sanjaya, giving a speech that literally gives away every single surprise in the story - Darth Vader is Luke's father, Rosebud was a sled, Snape kills Dumbledore, etc. But in my fic, I take the opposite tack, and try to maintain some narrative suspense. Therefore, there are a couple of Big Reveals that I'm saving for later, namely, who are Karna's parents, who is Krishna, WTF is Vyasa's connection to Bhisma's family, etc. If you try to research any aspect of the original Mahabharata, I can guarantee you that these secrets will be blown out of the water with the very first link that you click.
But then again, if you don't care about spoilers, go for it! And I suspect that most of the people reading this already know the story of the Mahabharata and won't be surprised by any of the Big Reveals, either. But I thought I'd give an honest warning for any Mahabharata Virgins who might also happen to be spoiler-shy, in the interest of fairness. // Behind the cut.

I hope you'll continue writing :) You should publish your story :D
I'm in the middle of reading Palace of Illusion, I quite like it because there are some humour in it but not enough. It's neither very serious nor humorous.
Your version is so much better. You really have good sense of humour :D

As for publishing, well, I've discussed that before on this livejournal. My official stance on the matter is Hell No, Never Ever. I'm flattered that you think that my fic is good enough for publication, but I am never going to attempt to publish it, period, end of story. Still, I appreciate the compliment! ^__^
