Due to 1) LJ database snafus making it impossible for me to make backup copies of entries with comments and 2) spambot comments attacking all of my old entries, I've decided to move this journal over to dreamwidth.

If you would like to leave a comment on an entry: All of the old entries from livejournal are mirrored at the dreamwidth journal. Please feel free to leave comments on any entry at http://mahastory.dreamwidth.org. You can comment over there using your livejournal login, OpenID, or anonymously.

Exile 03: Rescue (draft version)

And with that, I'm afraid that I'm going to have to put this project on hiatus. Trust me when I say that I've struggled with this decision for a while, and there are a lot of reasons why I want to call it quits. I don't want to go into a big TMI spiel right here. But my decision is final, so here we are.

I have tens of thousands of words of draft material still sitting on my hard drive, and I might release bits and pieces of it on this livejournal account in the coming months. I might - might - also release the big Master Outline document that I have, which would reveal the big spoilery plotlines for the rest of Exile arc. I dunno. I'm still thinking about it.

Anywhoo, I want to thank everybody who's stuck with me this far, especially my superstar betas [livejournal.com profile] goldenflames and [livejournal.com profile] steelehearts, as well as all of you who have given me further concrit in comments and reviews.

Hugs to everyone,
nenena

Bhima, you've gotta lotta splainin' to do.

Exile 01: Reunion

Exile 02: Past Tense

One more post coming in a minute.

mahastory: (Default)
To make up for the delay, here, have three chapters at once.

Chapter Eleven: Dice

Interlude: Ashwatthama

Chapter Twelve: Departure

But wait, there's more. Stay tuned for a couple more posts tonight!

mahastory: (Default)
So like, I previously said that I was going to have the next chapter ready before Turkey Day, yes? Only now it looks like that really isn't going to happen.

I'm sorry, it's just that real life has been seriously, seriously kicking my arse this semester. I'm a full-time grad student now, and working two part-time jobs on the side, so yeah.

I'm going to try to do my best to polish up the next chapter (the dice game) over winter break, so it should be ready to go in January or so. After that, there are only two chapters left before the Exile part begins, and I have just *not* been making progress on the Exile chapters. Like, at all. The first mini-arc in the Exile section is completely drafted, but after that I'm basically stalled.

Blargh! I dunno. I guess I'll just keep editing and updating what material I've got drafted already, and then when I'm completely caught up to myself, I don't know what will happen. But I'll think of something.

Revised version:

Interlude: Shakuni II

Sorry about the switcheroo, but this version is better. ;)

mahastory: (Default)
Well, I promised an update in September, and it's still barely September, so I guess I barely managed to keep my promise! Anyway, here you go.

Interlude: Shakuni II

Thank you all so, so much for your continued support, and for leaving comments begging me to update. :) Unfortunately, at this point, I'm going to have to slow down the pace again. I'm not nearly as far into the exile chapters as I planned to be at this point, so it's time to stretch out the updates, I guess.

I promise that the next chapter will be up before Thanksgiving, though!

Thanks again for all of your support and patience.

Well, I managed to keep my promise. Also, this month [livejournal.com profile] goldenflames deserves an extra-special THANK YOU for beta-ing Chapter Ten on the night before she left for a vacation in Cambodia. Now that's dedication. :) Thank you!!!

Anyway, the fic.

Interlude: Rukmaratha

Chapter Ten: Draupadi

Aaaaaand with that, I'm going to be going on hiatus until September. I have to move twice this summer, once across the Pacific Ocean and then once more again across the United States, in addition to starting grad school and all sorts of other stressful things. I'm also going to take some time in July to work some more on writing the exile part, because I'm not as far ahead on those chapters as I would like to be.

Anyway, thank you all for your continued support and words of encouragement. We will be back in September with a new update. And, as always, thank you for reading!

Not dead.

I'm not dead. I'm just editing. I feel like I broke through the worst of my revision block last week, so. Yay!

Right now I'm halfway through a deep edit on part 20/chapter 10.

I swear I will make good on that promise to pull off a double-update before the end of the month!

Argh.

Okay, so... The reason that there hasn't been an update for May yet is that I've gotten stuck during the editing process. I can't quite figure out how to untangle this knot of a scene that desperately needs a re-write, but that so far I haven't been able to "fix" in anything remotely approaching a satisfying way.

But I'm working on it.

My goal now is to keep hammering away at that damn scene until it works, and then, to make up for the delay, hopefully post a double-update in June.

My apologies to anyone who's actually been waiting for the next chapter. ^^;;

Chapter Nine: Panchala

April is going to be an insanely busy month for me, so... Here's April's update, a few days early.

Enjoy!

mahastory: (Default)
Interlude: Kritavarma

Very very short update, sorry.

But next month's update will be another megachapter. ;)

mahastory: (Default)
First! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much to everyone who has commented on the story so far. And yes, that includes those of you who have commented begging for updates - it lights the fire under my ass and feeds my ego. ^____^

Second! Here's the deal. I have two chapters that I want to post soonish. Unfortunately, I seem to be butting my head against something even deadlier than writer's block: Editor's block. Blaaaaargh. There is a section in the next chapter that requires major huge revision, and I'm really struggling with it right now. But I am working on it.

In happier news, this month I've made significant progress writing "ahead" (in the exile portion of the story), so yay go me. There's still about a year's worth of material already drafted at this point. And I'm still working, every month, on writing more.

This has been your friendly neighborhood update for January. Thank you again for all of your support, and I'm sorry about the delay.

Chapter Seven: Divided

(Icon is very relevant, LOL.)

Hope you enjoy this chapter!

And that's it until after the holiday season. I will try to get another update ready before the end of January. But no promises, though; I'm doing a lot of traveling over the next few weeks.

But anyway, thanks for reading, and for all of you amazing and encouraging comments, as always!

mahastory: (Default)
Interlude: Bhisma

I know. It's short. But don't worry. A much, much longer section has already been prepped for a December update. Look forward to it!
